MA20223 COVID-19 Edition

As you will have heard, due to the recent coronavirus situation, we will be taking our learning online (see University of Bath announcement). This means that your face-to-face lectures and tutorials will be cancelled from Wednesday 17 March to (currently) the end of Easter.

Here's what it all means.

Updated: 16 March 2020 at 9pm

Lectures

  1. Your lectures will go ahead in the usual times and we will be explore live-streaming. The details will be discussed during the lecture on Tuesday 17 March.
  2. All recordings (live or not) will be available online.
  3. We will continue to send out weekly progress emails.

Course materials

  1. Standard materials are fully available on the main website.
  2. The problem set solutions will be released on the same schedule (Friday the week they are 'due').
  3. Those of you who want to request the full set of solutions ahead of schedule can do so here.

Assignments and tutor interaction

  1. Those of you who want feedback or have questions about the course material, please use a scanning program on your phone to create a PDF or image and send it to your tutors by email (I have had good success with CamScanner).
  2. If you would like to have additional interaction with your tutors about a particular topic, some of them may be available for a Skype or Microsoft Teams chat upon request. Please enquire about the opportunity for more details.

Exam and assessment

  1. We will adjust the exam so that the assessment is suitable for how the term has been disrupted (e.g. so that it emphasises more of the early material).
  2. Details of the assessment are still unknown at this time; I'll make those details clear as we go forwards.
  3. The Mathematics DoS team will update students on Friday 27 March 2020.

International students and students who have additional restrictions

  1. If you have additional restrictions (like you are unable to access internet or that you fear you may not be able to return to the UK to complete the assessment) please do get in contact with me so that I can help you in an individual manner.
